On Thanksgiving, President Bush flew to Iraq to visit and say thanks to our troops that have been serving. For obvious reasons, there was a great deal of secrecy behind this trip to Baghdad. I feel, as do most rationally thinking people that this was a wonderful thing for President Bush to have done. He gave up his Thanksgiving to spend some time with those men and women that are thousands of miles from home fighting to keep this country safe. He traveled to Iraq to show that he actually cares about those soldiers that are putting their lives on the line. He made the trip to say ‘thanks.’ But of course, you have many people on the left saying that this was just a publicity stunt, that Bush needed some new pictures for his upcoming reelection campaign. “Bush's Iraq Visit a Pre-Election PR Stunt” decried Agence France-Presse (AFP). (Source) But there was another American Politician in Iraq on Thanksgiving too. Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) was also in Iraq at the same time. Yet have we seen anyone condemning Sen. Clinton’s trip as a publicity grab? I haven’t seen anyone claim that. Why is this? It all comes back to the liberal media bias that only the ignorant can claim doesn’t exist. When Bush goes to Iraq to meet with the troops, it’s a “stunt.” When Sen. Clinton goes to Iraq, its just a trip.
